Do New Yorkers swim in the east river this time of the year? Shock by cold water is one of the best things that can happen to you. I used to do it 3 times a week or more for a whole winter and during the day it felt like summer. It makes you very temperature insensitive. Now Im stuffing myself with clothes and I dont like it a bit. lol

Lol, I was dying going to the beach early this year when I was in Shengjin because of the cold water, now let alone swimming during wintertime.... Could never do that.

The Polar Bear Club does an annual event on Mew Years's Day but at the beach not on the Hudson River. The Hudson River is too toxic for human swimming.

Hahaha in nordic countries is quite common though :D Here in Milan i just used to fill the bathtub with ice . As a kid used to swim back home in december and february with friends while fishing . This july and august the water was quite cold indeed.
