Well lately the belowed Serbian media got "out of contest" a quote of Albania's PM Edi Rama . Many analists have been writting about this and they see it as a mission impossible for the Ukraina like outcomes in the Balkans and the fact that Serbia might not allow this to happen without another war. The EU diplomats have been criticizing Edi Rama and he today said that he doesn't care about the EU criticism .

The Ahtisaari Plan conditioned Kosovo's independence by adopting a multiethnic “Kosovar,” rather than an Albanian identity. Still, Gallup surveys revealed that 75% of Kosovo Albanians would prefer to live unified with Albania in the same country. The same support was seen in Albania where 68% of the citizens of Albania preferred a unification of Albania with Kosovo.
Albania and Serbia Are at Odds Again

Political tension in the Western Balkans is running high again. On April 6, Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama cautioned that his country would unify with Kosovo if the European Union failed to incorporate both countries into the continental bloc. Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic was quick to respond, accusing Rama of fomenting instability in the region.

Albania and Serbia have a complex relationship because of ethnic tensions and overlapping territorial aspirations. Complicating things further, Albania supported Kosovo's 2008 unilateral declaration of independence, while Serbia continues to resist its international recognition. Friction between Serbia and Albania will persist, but Albania's claims over Kosovo will remain rhetorical, and a more serious escalation is unlikely.

The Serbs are unhappy because they know it will happen at some point... it's inevitable.

It will happen? It has happened. Maybe not in the international concept but certainly in every other concept. Everyday a new agreement is reached to avoid burocracy and promote ease of cooperation. I have doubts on Rama but cannot fault him on the Kosova stance. Far more patriot than Berisha and far braver. Even Kosova now is playing ball after a little blip. Obviously everyone now understands that we can only prosper together. No one believes anymore on a new Kosovar identity as it's just not possible nor moral. And also no one believes European intentions anymore. They left Kosova high and dry. I say personally lets talk referendums. If that'll piss off Europe and sends us back a few years than so be it. The benefits from it are timeless and everlasting!!

Depends on who's in power. If you have the western backed political parties still holding on to power than they'll just repeat whatever the EU wants. But if VV or a right wingish type of party gets power watch out..

But all this talk about Kosova and Albania but not about Ilirida  Is anyone following the politics there with the wire tapping by Gruevski? He has dirt on everyone in the country

Cheap card to put pressure on EU.

Agree. Feel for Kosova. All that sacrifice and now this. It hurts more that a lot of it comes from within. ILIRIDA too. Albanian parliament has become like a Mafia family meeting. Hope is truly fading. Ignorance at its highest level.

Well yes i know kosova's economy is in bad shape but all this is an outcome of their isolation . Unfortunately albanian businessman couldn't cut out the serbs from Kosova. They do the mayor imports in the country and people buy their products not because they are not patriots but because they cost less. Still people have no jobs , less remittances from immigrants . Met few young students from Peje who were working in Shengjin during the summer period, if an eventual union will happen there will be more good things than bad ones even on short terms but we know that northern Kosova will be lost same with Illirida joining i guess half of the albanians properties will remain within Fyrom.

Albania (Edi Rama specifically) should play this unification card more to the EU and use it to speed up the joining process.

Basically convince the west that Albania and Kosova unification is inevitable UNLESS Albania become an EU member in a couple years.

Cause the way its looking we wont get in until 2028.
