And tbh, I'm against building a big mosque with an ottoman architecture in Tirana or Prishtina.

Really? Where have you seen that?

TV, portals and social media.

It surprised me how large the number of the people praying last Kurban Bajram in Tirana was. Then you have the Hykas and Lilas praying before a match start/entrance and teams posting photos of visiting mosques.

There's your problem :D

There are about 4-5000 thousand people that gather in Tirana to pray, often times from all over Albania. But if you take into account that 60%+ of the country is Muslim, that number is miniscule. And a huge number of those people there are Dibrans or from Kosova that live in Tirana.

Yes there is a segment of the population in Central Albania (Tirane & Kavaje especially) that have been historically very religious. Incidentally that's where Hyka and Lila are from. The Lilas and Hykas are also emboldened by the Mavraj and the Gashis and I guess from other notable world class players like Ozil who publicly display their religiosity. It helps to get some likes on FB :)

In the South , where the Orthodox and Bektashis are concentrated ) you will find the least religious Albanian. In the North you have the Catholics who tend to be overly religious but even them are nothing compared to the Americans for example.

I find Albanians more superstitious than religious. You'll see moslems show up for the Easter Orthodox mass and the Catholic Christmas mass in Tirana. When I returned to Albania my uncle took me to Kisha e Lacit to have me blessed :). There is a pilgrimage week to Kisha e Lacit in March in which almost 1 million people show up.

Same happens for Kurban Bajram. Most people you see there are nominally Moslem. Yes there is a resurgence in religious feeling amongst Moslems but it's mostly confined to a small segment amongst Central Albanians Sunnis. There is a Mosques in Tirana that is under surveillance by the Albanians secret police and some there are extreme radicals but that's about it.

Not sure which Dibrane he's referring to. There is a large Dibran population that moved to Tirana between the two Word Wars. They don't strike me as the religious types though.

Most likely Owner's referring to people that have moved to Tirana in the recent years. I don't think it's a huge number though and probably not that religious. Like I said it's very likely "vendalinj Tiranas" mostly that you see there. They have latched on to Islam as part of their identity as they suffered immensely under the Commies.

Wtf, I'm talking about the people that moved there during the 90s. There's even a street close to the city's center called "Rruga e Kosovareve".

I don't think Plako lived there in the late 90s/early 2000s when Kosovars thought fireworks during NY's eve meant = :automatik:

I left in 1995 and have only been back twice for a few days so I might be wrong of course.

It ain't the 'Kosovars'. It's Albanians from Albania who are religious. Deal with it.

@ Plako & Aurora Bulkualis

Even my personal experience with RA muslims is them being very ignorant towards the basics of Islam let alone practising the basics of it. :D

You guys don't sense a growth in practising muslims in RA? Here are some examples I've noticed:

- more 'ftyra rinore' at Bajram prayings with every year that passes by. Not that it's a bad thing, deri sa nuk i futen extremit.
- popular teologs, which are gaining popularity ne te gjitha viset Shqiptare
- superliga teams visiting the mosque before an important match
- RA imams getting kicked out of Kosova pershkak predikimit ekstrem
- luftetaret ne shtetin Islamik.
