Dallku wrote: Thu Aug 18, 2022 5:20 pm It was a bad first week for Alb players but that can change in the upcoming weeks. Most of them are borderline in the starting lineup... just a bad performance/injury/suspension away from it. Some (like Qazim Laci) are further than others though.

Let’s see if Reja plays favourites, or those who deserve it. He has made a lot of noise about being fair with selection, even claiming that “nobody is untouchable.”

Will he keep his word?
Let me guess, you're gonna start Ramadani over Asllani ?

Starters:
Ramadani
Gjasula
Abrashi (hardly ever plays 90 minutes)
Balliu
Djimsiti
Lenjani

Benchwarmers:
Broja
Bare
Asllani
Laci
Vrioni
Manaj
Hysaj
Kumbulla
Strakosha
Berisha

Borderline:
Cikalleshi
Ismajli
Bajrami

Bajrami is not borderline. He started, played well and 90 minutes. Also wanted by Fiorentina. Empoli has a new coach and he rates him highly. Bajrami is guaranteed to start this season if he stays at Empoli. Ismajli is the one that's borderline. He started the first game and has to continue playing well.

Ismajli, Bare, Kumbulla, Asllani, Berisha are borderline. They just need a little luck and some things to fall in place for them to start. Even Hysaj if we're honest. Fans love to trash him but before you know it he starts games.

Broja should probably go on loan tbh. Everyone else is trash anyway... Laci and Manaj not starting is good. Disappointing move by Strakosha...

Not like Reja has tons of alternatives. He'll have to play some bench players regardless. Unless you want him to start the dynamic duo of Xhixha and Seferi.

Makes no difference who starts..

Reja has claimed to be a fair manager who plays those deserving. He has repeatedly said “no spots are guaranteed.” Will he keep his word, or was he just making noise?

On the night, if we see Bare or Asllani in the lineup over Ramadani, the answer will be clear!

It makes a huge difference who starts, one is a good player , one is shit. Like starting Balaj and Broja. Quality shines through.

Reja can f*** off , he shouldn't be here anyway.

So you think players should be rewarded for not being good enough to play at high levels?

Watched a bit of Villarreal vs Hajduk Split and the differences are comical.... and it's not because Hajduk Split doesn't have talented players. Their transfermarkt value is like 50 million so individually they are ok. The difference is professionalism/tempo/mentality. What hurts Hajduk is that they play part timers every week while Villareal "practices" against professionals every week. It's those habits that matter.

It is a rule of national teams that the players who are in the best shape, must play.

Fielding a bunch of benchwarmers is fair to nobody.

That's only if players are at a similar level.

You think Bosnia has been benching Dzeko these past few seasons that he has warmed the bench at his club?

You think Greece is benching Tsimikas even though he's a bench player for Liverpool?

Or Armenia with Mhkitaryan?

There are countless examples like that. Even from top national teams too. Being on the bench at a top club like Chelsea or Inter is no joke. Ramadani wouldn't even be allowed in the stadiums of those clubs. Literally.

By that logic, Suga Ray would be untouchable for Albania. He warmed the bench 36 times for Inter in 2015-16, and a few times for Barcelona last year.

Sure, there can be the odd exception. For us, only Broja. No other difference makers exist..
