Its a combination of genetics + culture/mentality. That's the key to success.

you think a country like Uruguay invest?? Hell no. It's just in their blood and mentality. I saw them against USA yesterday and their striker Darwin Nunez was sprinting like a maniac on defense and tackling in the 83rd minute. In a match they didn't even need to win. No investment can teach that. You either have it or you don't.
Uruguay has won 2 World Cups. Be fucking real. Their football heritage goes beyond anything we have.

Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan "invest" like Saudi Arabia. That's not serious development. You're just overpaying for mid-tier players.

Albanian Superliga will never develop a player like Xhaka or Shaqiri. There is a reason for that. If it was just "genetics" Albania would be Switzerland 2.0.

I don't think some people here realize how much resource investment goes into making these players elite. From conditioning, to technical development, to tactical understanding, etc...

I will try to make it very simple..

Give Albanians on average..
-6 cm more in height
-10 points more IQ
-survival traits passed down to them from ancestors who had to endure harsh climates

I guarantee you we produce more talents across all sports!

Do you realize Croatia and Serbia crashed out like Albania in Group stages? If Croatia was so superior in genetics, why couldn't they beat us?

All Albania needs is a club like Dinamo Zagreb. Skenderbeu was the closest thing we had, and we fucked it up with match fixing. Now we have clubs like Tirana losing to Luxembourg bartenders. Even players like Rrahmani and Muci that are "doing well" outside have to play for like 3 other teams before they got to a top league. This is what's holding us back. We have no teams that are close to a top league.

Serbia lives alot on hype when it comes to football. Their national team is considered a "dark horse" in every tournament they feature in but yet they always finish nearly last. And truthfully their talent is mediocre at this point. Are we going to call Czech Republic a powerhouse?

Basketball is another story. Impressive how they churn out the best basketball players outside of United States although countries like France, Australia and Canada have surpassed them.

Basketball reminds me of hockey. It's only certain nations that take it seriously. A lot of countries might have teams, but at the grassroots level it's only super popular in a bunch of countries. In EU it's only some countries like Spain, France, Greece that take it seriously. In eastern Europe it's a few Balkan and Baltic states that take it seriously.

But football EVERYONE takes seriously. The competition is just too high. The entire world is giving it almost 100%.

This whole discussion of genetics is absolute nonsense, serbians and croatians are superior on sports toward other balkanic nations because of expertise they have inherited especially serbians. Since Yugoslavia Kingdom days they had elite sportists and elite sport coaches so they have tradition and continuity. Just take a look how many elite clubs Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Ajax, Juventus, Feyenoord etc have been managed by serbian or croatian managers and compare how many albanians managed have managed outside Albania so you can make your own conclusions. In other sports especially sports played with hands their expertise and heritage is way more richer than in football.
