The religious discussions usually tend to be biased. There is a lot to point out in all three main religions in Albania . You have the orthodox church building a 500k € church in Lezhe (20 orthodox declared) while they don't have money for the church of Himare or viceversa the Catholic church building churches in southernmost Albania where you can count their followers with your hand fingers. The four institutions that run the main religions in our country are getting back most of the seized properies by the communist regime . Some are selling the seaside terrains like the Orthodox church to build the 5 million cathedral&religious university in Tirana while others keep them and barely make living out of it (bektashi).

Janullatos will not last forever , there will be others following his policies . The orthodox church in Eastern Europe is a country based religion unlike roman catholicism , thus the issue for having the orthodox church run by Greeks while having the catholic leaded by italians once in a while doesn't matter .

While I agree that all religions are problematic, the Catholics have not made any negative headlines in Albania for as long as I remember, and their goals are generally aligned with our national aspirations.

Yep, that's exactly it. It's the ALBANIAN orthodox church. There is no Albanian Catholic church or Albanian Islamic Mosque. Orthodoxy in and of itself means nothing outside borders. It's just a remnant sect from Byzantine times. You have the Serbs and Greeks who try to impose their nationalistic beliefs, but you know at the end of the day it's all b.s. Albanian Orthodox people being brainwashed by Greeks is about the same as Macedonian Orthodox or Bulgarian Orthodox people being brainwashed by Greeks. Or Austrians being brainwashed by Italians. Never going to happen, unless they're Greek minorities. Turkey and Saudi Arabia hold exponentially more power and influence than Greece who is going bankrupt.

And I'm not even saying the majority of Muslims are Arabophiles. I'm saying as a percentage the number of Arabophiles and Turkophiles amongst Muslims is wayyyyyyy higher than Italophiles or Grecophiles amongst Christians.

Of course there are differences between regions. But the biggest difference is urban/rural not by state. You can't compare middle of Tirana to Kukesi, or villages in Prizren to Prishtina.
