As they shouldn't. These countries have their own teams and it's only right that their products/diaspora play for them. Albania should focus on its own diaspora and especially developing its own players domestically.
Lol.. no. We never would have made it to EUROs without Kosovar diaspora. In our entire backline the only one from Albania was Hysaj.
The whole starting lineup minus Hysaj, Agolli, and Lila were Kosovars. I think some games we even fielded a full Kosovar lineup or like 10/11 players from Kosovo.

The local talent pool in Albania has increased it seems so there is some hope. There seem to be more connections for young players in Albania now and it hopefully it improves.

Still a weak lineup better than any natural lineup from 2015.

-----------Sadiku
Uzuini--Kallaku--Roshi
------Cokaj--Bare
Trashi-Mersinaj-Selmani-Hysaj
---------Strakosha

TBH I actually kind of like this lineup lol. Defensively it'll be a nightmare but whatever.

Real talk.. the only options we’d be left with are Superliga products and we are unfortunately headed in that direction due to emergence of Kosovo NT and this pending new legislature.
I wonder if soon Kosovo starts snatching up players from Albania or Albanian - Italian diaspora. And honestly Kumbulla should play for Kosovo and pair up with Rrahmani.

Ok now you're exaggerating.

The diaspora should absolutely be allowed to play for Albania because they have a DIRECT CONNECTION to it... If not from themselves(born/raised) then definitely from their parents or grandparents. They can easily trace their connection with Albania and have every right to represent their family.

Now with the Kosovar diaspora it's a different story. What connection does someone like Shkelzen Gashi have with Albania?? Absolutely zero. Kosovo was part of Yugoslavia and now they are an independent state. These players have no legit connection to Albania itself. It always felt like we had a bunch of foreigners when we had so many Kosovars.

I don't think they would be eligible.

Kosovo is not recognized as exclusively an Albanian country so not all Albanians can play for it. They would have to show proof of connection. It's same with Greece/Cyprus.

There is no segment... I don't know anyone who wants a split team. Even people I know who don't give a shit about nationalism think it's stupid to divide team in two.

I totally agree with LedZep, Albania should focus in the domestic product and their own diaspora but albos from North Macedonia should not be ignored either. We can dream as much we want for one NT but it always will remain just a dream. While Kosovo was in isolation all initiatives for a joint league or initiatives of Kosovar clubs to be included in the Albanian league were totally ignored by FSHF. It's obvious Duka wanted just the players and sell Kombetare tickets, merchandise, Digitalb packages but those days are already over. I don't think such abusive relationship it is possible anymore even with the albanians of Macedonia. It's hilarious that North Macedonia has offered position of president to albanian while FSHF hasn't employed yet any coach from North Macedonia. Organizimi i nje "trajnimi" per gazetaret sportiv nga FSHF qe shqiptareve mos te ju referohen si "maqedonas" do te ishte fillim i mire besoj.

Dude, it's not about "wanting" a split team, it's literally about having it. That's the reality of it and we have to act accordingly to the reality. Right now Albania is the 3rd/4th choice for Kosovar diaspora and rightfully so. You think those "rejects" would make a difference for Albania? Hell no.. so not even bothering with them and only focusing on your own is only positive.

People seriously overestimate the "talents". Even in 2016 Hysaj was easily the best player on paper. We never had a "talented" team. When we qualified we had a cohesive team, full of pitbulls and De Biasi's ultra defensive tactics suited them. It wasn't a talented team. Also the euro format and outside forces helped us qualify too.

'Albania will eventually qualify again, if not from the groups then from the Nations League. The format now is a joke and anyone can qualify to the euros. Qualifying for world cup is what's hard but even with De Biasi we weren't close to qualifying, even with that united mostly Kosovar team you guys are hyping.
