Wrote this a few weeks back on Broja. If you're already a top/world class player, playing for Albania won't help you. But if you're a developing player, playtime even for Albania is CRUCIAL. This is where Januzaj fucked up imo. Late teens/early 20s are what makes/breaks players. Januzaj spent it on the bench both Belgium/Man U.
Reja gave Broja his first ever professional starts as a footballer. That's without a doubt helping his career in Holland as well.

Keidi Bare scored against Liverpool in a friendly too with Atletico. But Atletico never even gave him a chance. What matters is consistent playing time.

Scoring in a preseason friendly is totally not the same as bursting on to the scene with a team like United at 18/19 and probably being their POTY. Januzaj had so much talent and was being touted as the best player his generation. He had ample playing time his first season and even his second season. His problem was that he didn't have the work ethic or IQ to realize his potential. In a different world maybe Sir Alex never retired and made Januzaj fight his spot in that 13/14 United squad and Januzaj never had so much hype.

Any way you slice it, he didn't get consistent playing time in the most important years of his career. Saying he started for a few months or he scored a goal with Belgium B vs. England B proves my point.
Those years are CRUCIAL for development and you need to be playing 90 minutes week in and out.

You don’t need to be playing 90mins every week and he was given the #11 shirt and plenty of chances .

Ultimately Januzaj just wasn't good enough. Talented youngsters will always get overhyped because of their age and potential but the amount who reach that top top level is very small.
