No way. A bench player should not be our captain. He stays on the bench for 6 months at Lazio and then comes and is captain in Albania. Hysaj is best choice.
I'd like Hysaj to be a future captain too but problem is he doesn't have a captain "personality". He's too mellow to be a leader.

Cana really is the definition of a good captain and these are probably rare. Good leadership on and off the field, patriotic, good communication with the media as well, experience, etc. No one else is really at that level.

That's why i said Hysaj or Xhaka. I would prefer Hysaj, but i guess Xhaka suits that profile better as he is aggressive and shouts at players on the pitch.

A bench player can never be captain, that is beyond ridiculous. Cana was respected as he is a big player, no one respects a bench player.

I think hoxhe Mavraj i myftinise gjermane should be our captain too for the next 2-3 years till Kace or Hysaj are ready. Under no circumstances a Swiss related player should be considered despite our love for Xhaka (the proper brother). Do we know for sure Cana will hang up his boots this year internationally?

I think Kaçe is our most talented player but i felt he was too shy to be captain, however during this international break he really seems to have grown in confidence. He is very patriotic and some people seem to forget how much so, this is the kid who had the whole Greece and Golden Dawn on his back for choosing Albania over Greece and then the UÇK shirt episode ect...

However i feel Hysaj would still be the ideal captain as like Cana frequently does interviews and speaks on behalf of the squad, we would need a captain who can speak Albanian well, so Hysaj having grown up in Albania would be the one.

I think personality is the number 1 thing.

- Berisha is too insecure/nervous

- Mavraj is too soft and he's almost 30 already. Plus he's injury prone.

- Hysaj is too Ivanovic-like. Not soft but not great motivator. They don't make good captains. Plus I don't want him turning into a diva.

- Kace too soft.

Xhaka is the only choice left. He's a regular and he's aggressive. Plus it's his birthday today too :talumsha:

Come on man, enough with the blame shifting. Reminds me of Mavraj saying his blunder was Cana's mistake :| Playing for Germany is better for your career, and that's fine. But don't expect massive amounts of respect.

Xhaka can be a captain in the kd of Roy Keane. Mavraj though is best suited to be captain. Hysaj and Kaçe don't have the personality to be captain.

Mavraj can't motivate players. He's too soft. Plus he'll play for another edition max and he's injury prone.

For me the captain has to be:

- a warrior
- a patriot
- well spoken in Albanian
- preferably born in Albania(including Kosova)

So for me that means Hysaj would be the most obvious choice. However, Idk if he has that leader mentality yet since he's so young himself. Xhaka has all the right qualities but I'm hesitant to appoint captaincy to someone whose first choice wasn't us.

That's why I'm hoping one of our younger players develop into a star (i.e Manaj/Rashica) because I'd rather have them captaining us at the World Cup which we're obviously going to make :flag:

But as a darkhorse I honestly think Lenjani should be up for consideration. I know you guys are going to laugh because he isn't the most talented, however that's not what being a captain is all about. Lenjani was born in Kosova. Made it clear he wanted to play for us from day one, and he's honestly a work horse. Whatever position coach puts him in he doesn't complain and he gives his best effort. To me those are great qualities to have in a leader.

Mavraj is another choice but he's going to have our guys praying to Allah 5 times a day, reading the quran on the team bus, and not drinking after the game so I can see there being issues between him and the holy Catholics of Shkodra :zgerdhimje:

Well there goes your dark horse Lenjani. Xhaka also speaks with a very thick dialect and he doesn't look comfortable in Albanian interviews. Xhaka is a hothead too.. He's suspended in the Swiss league because he grabbed an opponent by the hair.

Etrit Berisha is the vice captain right now so I predict he will be the future captain.

I never liked Cana as a player but i always loved him as captain probably and he is one of best captains in Euro's so it is true nobody is even close to his level. I agree with you that Hysaj still lacks something maybe it is his young age but there is no doubt that he is one of favorites.
