When I see Albanians complaining about American reforms, it's like kids in Africa that are starving refusing food because it's not gluten-free. I don't think anyone believes this will magically remove all corrupted judges. But it's a lot better than the shit we have. When you hit rock bottom, there's nowhere to go but up.

This reform is just a side-show and a tool. The real battle is George Soros wanting to put Eastern European politicians like Meta and Berisha in prison. He did it in Romania and Croatia. Let's see if he can do it here, which is the toughest battle yet. Albania can't enter the EU until top people go to prison. It may not happen this year or the next, but I think it will eventually.

We got to stop kidding ourselves. Albania might never join EU. As soon as we get candidate status, other countries want to leave. They don't want us, plain and simple. The most we can do is accept the fund they supply us with at least and continue working on our country ourselves because Europe isn't going to save us..

I've said this a billion times. EU doesn't matter. It's getting to EU. In fact raising the standards to almost impossible is good for us. Since the crisis, they've shoved down violent reforms on EE countries. "Reforms" sounds like an empty word, but politicians, judges, are ending up behind bars. A Romanian PM even tried to commit suicide when they put him behind bars. EU in itself is just a bunch of trade deals. It almost doesn't mean shit.

Corruption is destroying those societies. We really need a helping hand. You can't build a democracy in 25 years. Unless you want to wait for another 215 years like USA, this help is needed. Equating USA corruption to Southern or Eastern European corruption is a fucking joke.

This reform will fail, just like UNMIK and EULEX has failed in KS. Until we - as a people - change, there will never be real change. If you want to become somebody's lapdog be my guest, but don't claim to be an independent country or have any kind of real freedom besides that which is given to you by your masters, be it the US or EU.

Migjeni, everyone is someone's "lapdog". If you're not USA, France, Germany, China, Russia, or UK that is. You can even argue I've missed a few (Japan, Turkey etc) but the point remains valid that only a handful of countries are running this world and everyone else has to fall in line.

I agree that the only way our country can really change is if the people change themselves. Afterall, we have education levels similar to poor African nations. Corruption is involved in that also. Rich kids buy grades to pass. Nepotism is rampant as well. Only the people can demand and create a meritocracy. But in the meantime, we're going to need all the help we can get..

There's a difference between small countries being not able to rule the world and being servile and being other's puppets. Others shouldn't be doing our homework. This has been our problem as a people for a very long time now. We don't want to do the work it takes to create a functioning society.

I think there are definitely people who do but we have too many people in government who would rather not in order to keep the powers they currently have. That's why we need an outside unbiased party to help us out. These judicial reforms will not have America pick/vet our judges forever. They certainly don't want to do that because it wastes their own time and resources. This just allowing them to help us get a fresh start. Knowing us though, we'll f*** it up somehow...
