The accusations stem from an article published by La Repubblica today entitled ‘Calcio, clan e affari: le ombre albanesi sulla Lazio di Tare’ (Football, clans and business: the Albanian shadows on Tare’s Lazio).
The article contains some content that was revealed by an investigation by the TV programme Report, which will be broadcast on Rai 3 this evening.
La Repubblica’s article suggests that the Bari public prosecutor’s office is investigating the matter after an attempted takeover by a group from the area. The prosecutor’s office has not investigated Tare but has informed the FIGC prosecutor’s office.
Tare responded through a letter released by his lawyers, which says:
The thesis supported by the journalist and attributed by him to the acts of investigation, according to which ‘in fact, the company belongs to the Genti brothers and Igli Tare’ is simply false.
Similarly, Igli Tare declares himself uninvolved in the operation described by the journalist as an attempt of the Martiradonna clan to buy this betting company; an operation of which he ignores any information.
Because of the total extraneousness and falsity of the news (artfully disclosed), Igli Tare had previously warned the journalist Daniele Autieri in an email in response to a series of specific questions asked by Autieri as a journalist of the Report editorial staff.
Igli Tare reserves the right to take the widest legal action, for which he has already given a mandate to his lawyers, including with reference to further profiles of illegality of the news matter of dispute.
