Rewatching parts of this game, I'm starting to understand why Ajeti shows up for big games. He's got great composure and maturity.
I don't think he's particularly super-talented defensively. I think Kumbulla and even Cana have/had more destroying/defensive natural talent. But with Cana it became clear he was too much of a hothead defensively. Even though he was physically strong, great in the air, and at tackling, he didn't have the maturity and composure to play at the EUROs as a CB. When Ajeti came on, we didn't concede a single goal. Even against France we only conceded once DB took him out.
Ajeti's greatest asset is his mentality, not his physicality. He's super professional, calm and composed no matter how big the spotlight is. Which for Albanians who get overly-emotional on the field, he's a stark contrast.
