Albania doesn't have any weightlifters this time? What happened?

That's the only sport where a medal is possible. Albania has actually underachieved historically by not getting an olympic medal in that. Multiple time European champions but could never do it in the Olympics and those who did (Dhimas, Shabanis, etc) did it for Greece.

Sports are completely dead in Albania. Even weightlifting. It's actually worse than it's ever been.

Chermen Valiev lost in the quarter finals but can still compete for a bronze medal if he wins in repechage match.

Looking at the odds, the only one favoured for a medal (bronze) was Abakarov and he got embarrassed by some random Indian dude.

Valiev wasn't even listed in the odds, while the other dude's odds are at 5th.

If we win something, we might get some attention and funding. Fake it till you make it.

I don't see that result anywhere. RTSH says it's in 10 mins.

And who cares? How many medals did Pirro Dhima win? He was trained in Albania, and Albania deserved at least some medals back then.

My bad..

I saw the wrong result.

Looks like Valiev is going to win it.

In my opinion, big shame that our first ever Olympic medal comes under these circumstances.

At least we're no more one of the 5 countries that had never won an Olympic medal.
