I don't know if he's ready to start for Chelsea, but I feel like Southampton is holding him back. He gets almost 0 service. Even when he got a decent pass, his teammate delayed it and caused his offside.
He already has a Southampton, it's Albania. He needs to play in a team with proper service and not just fighting for scraps.

Yup. He just needs one good through ball or over the top ball and he's literally on goal. Southampton is so bad at that. They are not using his abilities.Aurora Bulkualis wrote: ↑Sat Jan 22, 2022 7:39 pm I don't know if he's ready to start for Chelsea, but I feel like Southampton is holding him back. Great performance by Southampton to take a point off the best team in the world.
Another super fun game to watch.. Salisu was a monster, nice goal by the fullback Walker-Peters.
Broja and Adams solid pairing up top, though it is hard to find openings against a team of this caliber.

Ironically, Broja had more chances in this game than any other game. Disallowed goal, could've had a pen if he wasn't offside, hit the post, etc..
He's a monster counter attacker and when he has space is where he thrives. A team like City that push so many players forward always give Broja that space he requires. Then the rest is all about teammate delivery, luck, and just being able to finish... really.
If he was at Chelsea the challenge would be that the counter attacking space is limited or even gone. Teams bunker against Chelsea... At that point Broja would have to show a different type of skillset. (more traditional poacher)

Less marking = less service
Pros and cons to either. I find EPL is open enough tbh. He'd probably struggle more playing for a team like Juventus or Inter where teams just park the bus. In EPL smaller teams don't defend for 90 minutes.

Southampton is a good team.. well coached, solid defensively, and create their fair share of chances too.
A draw there would only occur ~16% of the time according to Bet365 pre-match odds, with a visitor win more than 3 out of 4 times (~76%).
Credit where it is due..

One thing I'm noticing about the comments on Kumbulla is his marking ability. This is the exact same thing I've been praising him for and obviously he got accolades from the Lewandowski game.
But it was more noticeable vs. England when Dermaku stepped in and was just ball watching the entire time when Kumbulla didn't give Harry Kane an inch of space.

Spezia has won 4 of their last 5 matches and two of those were wins against Napoli and Milan away. Manaj started in all 4 wins.
