He still seems to suffer from the "Xanax syndrome" that most Albanian players have. Really needs to take more initiative.

His long ball especially is very good.

His corners too. If we have tall strikers it could be very beneficial. God knows we suck at creating open play chances.

That 2 million salary + living in Rome really ruined Kumbulla's long term prospects.

He was being hyped ahead of Rrahmani, but Rrahmani is in a whole other tier now.

Ofc Kumbulla was being hyped, he's still like only 22 years old.

Rrahmani was 25-26 back then IIRC.

^ And CBs peak in their late 20s/ early 30s.

Kumbulla still has great potential. Mourinho praised him after the game today but he also confirmed that he's the 4th choice CB. It is what it is.

Rrahmani at 25/26 had just moved to the Serie A from Croatia. So what makes you think Kumbulla at 22/23 won’t be as good as him ?

Kumbulla was hyped just like any Italian young product gets hyped in Italy. Playing in a Mourinho team is special for a defender, but with Kumbulla warming the bench at 22 in a top 6 Italian side, he'll probably end his career between the level of Ranocchia and Bonucci.

Like Broja and Kumbulla his talent is undisputed. It's about putting it together and starting to master the game.
