Odds before the game suggested a positive result for Albania slightly less than 1 of 3 times. With the way we played on the night, we wouldn’t get a positive result even in 100 tries!

I hope our shameful performance was due in large part to inferiority complex and we can bounce back against Croatia. Let’s not forget, Albanians in Serie A are backups to Italians so we should understand the dynamic there..

Psychologically, this was never going to be a good matchup for us. Our players idolize and look up to those guys. I said it before, I would rather play Spain than Italy for this very reason.

Let's not get too nostalgic. Albania just defended for 90 mins vs France DB style and ate 2 at the end.

Plus the early goal added pressure. They had something to lose at that point.

France literally won in the 90th minute. Before that Albania had chances to win it with Lenjani and others. DB style or not you made them sweat and earn respect.

Italy finished this game after 16 minutes....

The more I watch other matches the more I realize what a pathetic team Albania is. Slovakia is currently playing Belgium off the field, the worst rated team Romania destroyed the dream team of Ukraine, etc..

Albanian players are the only ones who went there to take photos to put it on their instagram. Reminds me of the time North Korea qualified for that one world cup.
We're facing teams who are worth 7-9 times than us. Sylvinho has been here for 1 year and he just got Broja. We have the toughest group.

Since you like odds so much, Albania had a 7 coefficient with Italy, while Italy was like 1.2 or something  Let's keep expectations in check.
The gap between Albania (minus Seferi and Asani) and Italy isn't as big as you think it is and certainly the gap between France and Albania in 2016 was much larger. While the 2016 team was certainly super defensive and anti-football they had an identity with their strong defense and aggression. Teams really struggled scoring against them and they didn't give up too many chances. The other day Italy was able to do whatever they wanted and if it wasn't for Strakosha the game could have been 4-1 easily. This could have been just as bad as that England thrashing a few years back.

Reality is Albania needed a point if they wanted to get through to the knockout round. They were given a golden early goal and had Italy absolutely shocked behind a massive supporting crowd. They absolutely squandered it by playing the worst football in years. Slyvinho is too blame as they were down early with no answers or adjustments until the last 10 minutes but by then it was over.

Yeah, Strakosha was very good, hope he continues to perform in the next games as well.

Our starters are Serie A benchwarmers or bottom feeders... Italy gets the best picks of the league. I'd say that's a huge gap.

The gap between Italy and us is the same gap as Inter and Empoli or Man City and West Brom.

I don't think it's smart to compare it that way, club football is way to different from NT football. Our players have way to many reasons to be extra-motivated for these games. For the most part in this game Albania looked like they don't belong on the same field as Italy. I don't think Bajrami would've gotten the chance to score that goal if it wasn't for the high press from our team. Sylvinho should've reacted quickly with the subs, Asani was getting bullied out there.
