Broja signs a new 5-year deal with Chelsea. Pretty good news as they're trying to offload Abraham.

Makes sense that they signed him. His first professional season was pretty decent and the talent is there. Tall athletic strikers like that don't grow on trees.

Having said that, he's nowhere near good enough to be part of their team right now. This is a "potential" signing and they will loan him around like they do with so many young players. It's up to him if he develops to reach that level. IMO if he develops into a top 3 league player it will be massive success.

And before you guys say "no he can do better". Look at Bersant Celina. City signed him and loaned him out a few times including the Netherlands where he had a very solid season... And he's still not good enough for a top league. I believe he plays in the French 2nd division now.

Good start for Cokaj and Sahiti making the team of the week in Croatia. I like them both and think they can be solid players.

You got a point there. Chelsea actually has been struggling resigning their academy as most are looking for playtime and are opting to sign for other teams. The Athletic just wrote a piece about this.

And they are right to do so, Abraham scored 15 NPG his first year and they rewarded him by signing Werner who has been absolutely shit. Luckily for Broja this opens up a spot as the 2nd ST now that Giroud is gone too. Scored a goal in their first preseason game so good start.

Yes, Werner with his 27 NPG+A has been absolutely shit. Fact is they won a CL with him starting all the way and being vital in creation and buildup play, whilst being moved from striker to winger and vice versa every few games... His workrate and creation has been unmatched this season. Plenty of prolific goalscorers don't make it at the top level because they don't contribute enough to their team..

Lets not take the piss here, he got 6 goals in 35 PL games and was by far the worse finisher in the league, they won the CL in spite of him , not because of him.

And most of his goals were in the first 2 months. Since December he's done nothing but miss chances. For £60 m I don't care he has been shit. No excuse matters here.

Chelsea are notorious for their loanee army. I don’t think Chelsea even view him as a long term piece they just know they can probably get 10 million euros from him after a few seasons in the Netherlands. This is what they do with all their youth academy players.

I just hope after this season Broja finds a “permanent” team

I wouldnt speak so soon, lets see how he does this year and how he develops. What 19 year old is ready to start for Chelsea anyway ?

Its down to him because he has the platform to perform, whether its at Chelsea or somewhere else he has the tools to be the best.

Since I mentioned that Werner is the worst finisher in the PL, you should be glad to know that Broja was the best finisher in the Eredivise in terms of outperforming xG. You could tell because he had minimum chances last year but made the most of them, same when he plays for us, its why we have to find out some way to carve out more chances because this 3ATB doesn't work.
