Albanians abroad

With memories of the golden years (80's) of the albanian football still fresh on her mind, Albania is now attempting to recreate its strong football legacy. As young players start making their names abroad, the future is looking bright for Albanian football!

The way to concede goals isn’t add more defenders on the pitch . You can’t concede if you have the ball. We tried to play defensive from min 1 vs Poland and Hungary and it didn’t work , conceding 70% possession and relying on Broja isn’t sustainable

That’s a horrific formation , we need to be more brave , wanting more “size” and defenders will only keep us where we are. Especially when you’re playing amateurs like Trashi, Doka and Ramadani

Do you expect to hold possession when facing top teams?

Albania foolishly tried this strategy at Poland, at England, and at Czech Republic, giving up 12 goals in those 3 matches alone.

Lazio plays in 3 different competitions so maybe Hysaj is not a robot.

As I said, Albanian fans only judge greatness and don't dare to question amateurism.
He was playing bad at Napoli too for the last year and nobody can forget the mistake that condemned them to EL. Reminds me of the mistake against Poland. Been like a year since he put in a good shift for the NT. Now he got benched at his club and the alternatives aren't even good. His once high level career is on a steep decline.

You say you should criticise the amateurs and not the capable players, but it is exactly the opposite. The capable players are the ones who should be criticised because they CAN do better.

Someone like Trashi is just shit. You know he can't do better because he just has no ability. Criticising is pointless because he is trying his best, he just sucks. What do you want him to do? When Reja starts him, refuse to play? It's not within his means to play well.

Someone like Hysaj is very able, as you have mentioned. So when he made that fuckup against Poland people were angry because he should do better than that. You don't expect that from a career Serie A player that played in CL/EL at a high level. He IS the one who should be criticised for making such a big fuckup.

Good thing Sergio Ramos is not Albanian because you guys would make him the worst defender that ever existed in the history of universe.

Errors are part of the game. Without errors there are no goals in any game.

I watched Hysaj against Atalanta a couple weeks ago and he was incredible... but nobody mentions his good games.

I only judge amateurs because they are the reason players like Hysaj thinks that he has to do (more than he should) for the NT which further increase errors.

Against teams like England ofc we won’t be able to. Those are the games where you buckle in and hope for the best . The problem is we play a defensive formation with a coach who clearly can’t coach defensive football and then it hinders us going forward.

And you say I had too many attackers . It was a normal 433/4231 , in what world is that too many attackers ? It’s precisely the reason I think we should play Bajrami on the left , to give us an extra CM

Albania has the most talented generation right now. It's a shame if it doesn't qualify to the Euros at least.

Edi Reja is not a defensive coach, as he constantly tries to hold possession by fielding combinations of midfielders who are weak defensively (Bare, Cekici, Bajrami), along with 2 strikers.

To improve the defence, we must take a page out of the legendary De Biasi book. Here is his lineup in the toughest match in Albanian history..

34th ranked Serbia v. Albania in Beograd:

———Berisha
Hysaj-Mavraj-Cana-Agolli
Lila-Xhaka-Kukeli-Abrashi-Lenjani
———Balaj

9 defenders, 1 attacker.. take notes!

Albania was lucky that game was interrupted because Serbia looked like scoring at any moment. Their players were super motivated too.

If Reja had CAS for one game against Poland he too would finish 2nd.
