Albania developed talented players, but issue has been keeping them from going sprinting.

Solution would have to start from politics. Closed borders, elimination of usury, sense of nationalism instilled in population. Only then will small nation like ours thrive athletically/culturally.

Unfortunately, Albania has been taken hostage by puppets of globalists, who would oppose anything that could benefit their country.

Hoxha was first and foremost a communist, not simply a nationalist.

Romania is a good example that domestic players staying in domestic league doesn't promise success. Their NT is in shambles. The best Romania was when Adrian Mutu and Cristian Chivu were playing in Serie A.

Players needs to play against high level competition every week in order to develop mentally, tactically and technically. You can only get that in the top 4 leagues.

Nonsense..

Best Romania was in 80s when players could not leave the country. Steaua won European Cup in 86’ and back to finals in 89’. Playing in the Romanian league back then, was like playing in the EPL today.

Because the level of football in general was amateurish back then.

Football before the 90's is not worth mentioning. Panajot Pano who's considered the greatest Albanian player ever wouldn't even make Serie B today.

Hungary was considered one of the greatest teams ever.. Please.

Unfair to make such a claim..

Many will even argue that football was stronger back in the day. Players today are soft and spoiled divas, who wish to live like Sheikhs. Go sprinting abroad for an extra dollar, leaving the homeland in shambles.

yes and Rick Barry was more athletic than LeBron James...

Please.... these nostalgia talks are dumb and based on emotion more than logic.

Sports have naturally evolved because it's common sense. Better science and more money resulting in better training, diet, habits... etc. It's normal human nature.

Back in the day your uncle would smoke a pack of Marlboro before the game and score a hatrick a few minutes after..

Albanians clubs in general and especially Skenderbeu benefited for several years that Kosovo wasn't recognised from UEFA so they have been able to sign best talents in Kosovo without any compensation. Those days are already over, you won't be able sign the likes of Berisha, Latifi, Rrahmani, Jashanica, Mazrekaj, Abazi etc for free.

That's a good point but don't forget that the foreigners Skenderbeu got were high level too. Olayinka, Radas, Orelesi, Nimaga, etc were difference makers for Alb league standards. They also got the NT leftovers like Vangjeli from the Greek league and Salihi. That was a big deal back then.

Tirana tried to do the same with Ndoj and Ajeti and failed miserably...

Albanian teams today struggle getting half decent foreigners. The foreigners are supposed to be better than the local players.. That's not the case.
Kosovars was only one piece of puzzle on Skenderbeu project and not every player from Kosovo was success story but they were low risk investments. Most of players from Kosovo were very raw when they arrived in Albania and they developed as players on albanian clubs so it was win-win situation. I don't believe albanians from Kosovo or North Macedonia are more talented than albanian from Albania but they have more opportunities to play on local leagues on early age. Albanian league is very difficult to play especially for youngsters, brutal league with immense artificial pressure by presidents of clubs and extremely tactical compare to Kosovo and North Macedonia.
