Albanians abroad

With memories of the golden years (80's) of the albanian football still fresh on her mind, Albania is now attempting to recreate its strong football legacy. As young players start making their names abroad, the future is looking bright for Albanian football!

Make no mistake Albania is interested in this Ndoj kid but the question is if he’s interested in Albania. Albania always tries with these greek diaspora kids but they always switch sides, even the rejects like Durmishaj and Vrushaj. These Albanians are the biggest mercenaries and Greece NT isn’t good so they realistically have a shot.

As for this Turkish kid I’m guessing this is the only diaspora we can get. The FSHF doesn’t want trouble with Switzerland, Germany, etc, and will only poach players for there that are obviously inferior. They won’t go after a player like Dijon Kameri, Mehmet Ibrahimi or that Ibrahomivc kid from Bayern.

This is the reality Albania is in right now. They have to go for the bottom talents. This is what constantly getting embarrassed after 2016 does to you. We can only hope that Italian and English diaspora come through since those NTs are too good for diaspora so they have no shot.

We should just forget about mercenaries, only go after kids who want to be part of the NT. Broja and his dad were intent on him joining Albania ever since he was a 15yo. Despite setbacks with FSHF he still came back. Screw these other guys.

Broja didn't even want to come but his dad made him.

Nowadays it's less nationalistic and people are more confused. Most are "mercenaries".

You guys forget that even Abrashi always told Swiss media that he plays for Albania because Switerland didn't have room for him. Now when players like that have that mentality imagine everyone else.

Ndoj with another assist today. A long ball assist. Seems like a real talent and I’m not expecting us to beat out Greece for him.

Also when did Olypmiacaos sign James and Marcelo?

^ Today he benched Sokratis. A guy with countless of appearances for Arsenal and Dortmund. Also a Greece international. That should tell you how well he's doing.

It's funny how every year an Albanian supertalent pops out of nowhere. 2/3 years ago it was Kumbulla, last year Asllani and this year this guy.

They really do and it's the beauty of football. It also works in the opposite ways in players that look to be good in the U21 level that end of flopping. Some players like Mitaj, Ndrecka, Ajeti, Manaj, Kace, etc, who looked to be long term players for us have flopped completely or appeared to be flops for now. But I still wouldn't be sold about Ndoj as we've seen the same happen with Mitaj and Kace who both had their careers stalled after success at a young age.

It also makes me think how bad our youth team is at gauging talent. Ndoj recently featured for the u21 in September but yet we never heard of the guy nor was he called up in our latest nations leagues matches where we had semi professionals called up. The same happened with Asllani where he was getting over looked at the u21 and then all of a sudden he's starting for Empoli.

It also solidifies us playing with a back three for some time now. Gym, Ismajli, Kumbulla, Ndoj, Bajrami is way too much depth and youth to consider switching for a nation our size. Find the wingbacks to make it work or play with make shift wingers out wide.

This dude is a 6"3 midfielder... Should've been called up a long time ago.

Actually, it seems he played last month for the U21. So we're good.

Florin Durmishaj played many matches for our U21 and was called up for him to only reject us for Greece. Even someone like Mihaj would have accepted a Greek call up in a heartbeat if he had the chance and publically made comments about it. Until Ndoj suits up for us I am skeptical.

This guy has been going back and fourth to Greece and Albania youth teams. I thought you can only switch FAs once? The rules don't seem clear about it.
