What this world cup shows is that national teams have 0 chemistry. That's normal because they rarely train and play with each other.

I read somewhere that Saudi Arabia shut down their league months prior and have been training/playing a bunch of friendlies since then. That's why they have a chemistry advantage over everyone. Qatar did too and they are actually overperforming because in reality they are San Marino level.

International game is more about episodes and individual talent that can create those episodes.

This is a huge factor, normally before a world cup they have a whole month to get together whereas this time most teams only had 1 week at most.
