Well Messi was playing CL football for PSG last year. Zlatan is an all time great and he scored 15 goals as a 35yo in his United stint right before joining MLS. For every Messi/Zlatan you have a Lampard/Pirlo that did terribly. When these guys struggle the argument goes "they're here to collect a paycheck" and when they do well it's "MLS is a joke."CanaYouDoIt wrote: ↑Wed Aug 02, 2023 10:56 pmhim and busquets playing at half speed making it look like the joke of a league it is.
Zlatan went in his mid 30s and made them look foolish too. You have guys like Vela who used to play for Arsenal 10+ years ago still bagging loads, it’s always been a retirement league.

It's not black ad white. Robbie Keane, Giovinco, Henry, and Djorkaeff for example did very well. Mathaus, Lampard and Pirlo struggled mightily.
Messi scored 2 against France in a WC final like 8 months ago. You make it sound as if he's some scrub blowing MLS off lol

So a 38 year old Lampard and Pirlo struggling since they’d clearly lost their legs and that means the MLS is strong ?Plako wrote: ↑Thu Aug 03, 2023 1:09 amWell Messi was playing CL football for PSG last year. Bro please stop being delusional, it’s a nothing league. Has some decent players but it’s child’s play for any good players.
Bradley Wright Phillips barely played for Championship/L1 sides and is an all time player over there. I can think of countless other players like that who dominated the MLS despite being nothing players over here.
Ps Lampard scored 12 in 19 in his last year, wouldn’t exactly call that struggling

MLS.. the retirement league that is a main supplier for top 15 ranked USMNT and 43rd ranked Canadian NT. USA only team to hold England scoreless last World Cup.
MLS.. the retirement league who’s All-Stars have beaten the likes of Bayern, Chelsea, Tottenham, West Ham, Fulham, Celtic and gone to penalties with Real Madrid and Juventus.
MLS been around for only 30 years. Give it another 30 and it could become the premier destination for all of the world’s best talent. North America is the future of football..

MLS is okay. Not amazing but not shit either. Not a top league.
I would probably put it around the level of the English Championship all considered, not really the competitiveness of it (Championship is super competitive) but overall strengths. It's improved a lot in recent years but still not top-level.
Recently it's not relying on expensive imports as much and has started to sign young talent/develop their own players so its taken a step forward.

Ramadani going to Lecce. He’s actually surprised me, take a good step forward in the last year. Hopefully he continues to get game time in the Serie A which is a step up from the scottish league.

That would be a fantastic move but let's see because a top channel reporter is the only one saying it.
