#2 goalkeeper at United definitely beats being the #1 at a club like Spezia and probably losing your spot there too because of poor performances during the season.
The minutes argument is legit for players like Asllani, Kumbulla, and Broja who are very young and still in development. Not for players who we already know what they are.
Not playing consistently definitely makes you worse.
Strakosha when he was in his good period at Lazio and undisputed #1 put in some great performances for Albania and was a major asset. When he was benched last year and got some minutes he threw the ball into the goal against Galatasaray. Rhythm is important.
I'm not comfortable with having a old Berisha who isn't even a sure #1 at Torino be our starting GK.

Is the bench at United somehow better than the bench anywhere else?

"Manchester United are closing in on a deal for goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha."
Now that's amazing
Would be pretty cool.
Years ago Albanians signing for top clubs was unthinkable. Now it seems more casual.
All about building up our quality . Having guys play for United , Chelsea now will only help. In a matter of 10 years we’ve gone from guys barely playing for some top division teams to having a number of guys at top clubs. It can only help inspire others and bring in diaspora talent.
I don't think Lazio to United is that deep. United aren't all that much better than Lazio. Perhaps they can be classed as a 'big club' but they're not even a sure top4 team anymore, and certainly not considered in European terms.
City, Liverpool, Madrid, Bayern etc sure. But United haven't been a top team for a long time.

It’s a status thing . United is still United . These Italian teams don’t even fill their stadiums no matter how good they are.

Honestly don't remember ONE notable performance of Strakosha with the NT. He's 27 and only has 19 NT caps. Many times he dropped out, shaky when he played, often Berisha preferred over him, etc. His NT career never lived up to expectations even when he was a starter at Lazio.

Strakosha peaked at 22 and has been stagnating for years now. At 27 he has no potential anymore. He is what he is at this point.

Man U hasn't been a top club for a long time. A backup keeper for an EL-level team is terrible.

Again for as bad as they’ve been playing for them is better than playing for some mid level team

LMAO at warming ManUtds bench > starting for a mid table club in a top 5 league?! Some of you are nuts at times. Strakosha can still improve and only by playing as a starter. Still to this day his biggest weakness is playing with his foot under pressure and finding his teammates be it with a short or long pass.
