Cikaleshi is a tactically poor player. He's a player that needs to be accommodated well or he won't score (aka a shitty goal poacher) and doesn't do other things with out the ball such as pressing, stretching the backline, holdup play, etc. Nepotism runs deep in the FSHF and he's FSHF's favorite guy at the moment. Those open headers he score against Moldova are as meaningless as scoring against San Marino. Seferi would have been able to score those.

Good to see Balliu play well and it was a pleasant surprise to see some width out there. Shame that it took Reja years to figure this and played amateurs over him. Maybe we could have fought for qualification if we had Balliu, Broja and Bajrami in the lineups from the inception.

He's the media's favorite guy too.

He was one of the best players according to Panorama. (same rating as Broja and higher than Djimsiti) :lol2:

Only on this forum will you find hate for Cikalleshi.

Pairing with Broja looked physically dominant at Spain. Reminded me a lot of the Lewandowski and Buksa combo that gave us a great deal of problems in qualifiers.

Not true. Cika has been getting praised on this forum for positive performances.

But when he's getting praised for literally just existing we have to call it out. This is the bullshit that got Bekim Balaj playing in the NT for many years undeserved.

This is Broja's performance against Spain. I challenge anyone to find a clip of Cika in this game doing ONE thing right. One duel won, one pass, one time he stole a ball.. and even doing anything basic. Dude is getting praised for just existing.

Balaj scores every ~289 minutes for Albania, Cikalleshi smashes that.

A segment of Albanian fans might find it hard to understand and appreciate the physical aspect of the game. Cikalleshi is a big guy, who may look a bit cumbersome to people, but he is super strong and effective.

Viewers like flashy dribbles and tiki-taka passing..

I still remember the media and FSHF hierarchy revolting when Panucci dropped him. What other country would throw a mutiny for a journeyman in the Turkish first and second divisions? He's got some sway with in FSHF. Maybe they like him because he's a local boy or maybe he's got some friends in high places.

Tbf that was a moment when he was still decent and Albania didn't have anyone better.

But it's ok to admit that players age and aren't as effective. Especially players like Cika who never played in a top league age much worse than others.

Historically Albania always had trouble "letting players go". From Duro, Skela, Lala, to Bulku, Balaj and now Roshi, Cikalleshi, etc...

Cikalleshi is currently having what is arguably the biggest season of his career. Top 20 league scorers, while playing for the 2nd best team, the Cinderella story of the Superlig.

He has benched Ahmed Mahgoub, who has a ton of experience in Europe, having played for Olympiakos and some of the strongest Portuguese teams. That guy is no scrub..

Turkey is a retirement league like the MLS. That's where old and washed up top leaguers go to get their last pay check before they call it career.

Being #17 in the top goal scorer list in Turkey is not the brag you think it is.
