With memories of the golden years (80's) of the albanian football still fresh on her mind, Albania is now attempting to recreate its strong football legacy. As young players start making their names abroad, the future is looking bright for Albanian football!

FFK are much smarter and know how to get them to play for Kosovë. Almost certain that they would have gotten Shaqiri, Xhaka and the other guys from Switzerland had they been recognised earlier.

Was about to write that Strakosha will now probably become our second keeper. If somehow he manages to keep starting consistently for Lazio then Berisha's place is up for grabs.

Dude are you serious? G. Xhaka and Shaqiri would never play for Kosova or Albania or whatever. Swiss NT plays in every major tournament. They want that for their careers. Januzaj has failed horribly and still doesn't want to play for Kosova.
This whole "good at calling up" is pure bullshit. You're not picking up chicks. You either want to play for a country or not. Anything else is media b.s. Don't be gullible.

I think what hurt them the most is these guys essentially had to make the selection before the Euro selection. That's gonna be a tough sell regardless.
I think Xhaka and Shaqiri thought Kosova wouldn't have been accepted for another 4-5 years. At that point it would have been perfect for them to leave as they can say they led Switzerland to all these tournaments but now they have to give back. But I don't think it was much of an option for them. Switzerland is like a third Albanian team anyway, they don't need to play for Albania/Kosova to be considered a "patriot"
Good thing we snatched up Ajeti before they did though

+1
anyone who thinks there was ever a chance for these guys must be intellectually handicapped. if they didnt want albania why would they want kosova? no stadium, no fans, no anthem, petrol banner flag, bad team
