Yea, because the Romans didn't colonize Illyria and forced the native population to adopt Christianity. The paradox here is that you're advocating for a religion that was oppressed on you're ancestors as well. I used to be a hardcore anti-religious person like yourself but than I realized what and who people worship/pray to is none of my business. I'm pretty sure Skenderbeu didn't care about religion too much and would have converted the whole Albanian population to Islam if it meant freedom. Don't forget Skenderbeu also forcibly converted to Islam by the Ottomans so he'd probably have some empathy.
PS, Say what you want about the Muslim Albanians but they are the most patriotic Albanians and still keep the family traditions alive. Atleast they don't name their kids Enzo and Jurgen LMAO

And you can follow that line of logic to say that any religion we have is from our oppressors and that we should just worship fire and rocks like the "originals" did. Personally I would love to have a balanced Albania like I said earlier. Something like 33% Muslim, 33% Christian and 33% non-religious would be the most beautiful thing in the world for me to be honest. It's just that the fact that > 50% of our population claiming Muslim feels as if the Turks still have us bent over on our knees. That's all I meant by it. Zemi, I live in a Place where there is about 5-10,000 albanians or so. From all regions but mostly from dardania and ilirida. I can assure you that albanians kissing turks ass is not an internet myth. From my observation, people that kiss turks ass are often from Prizren and certain places from ilirida. Tetovë and some places like that are huge ass lickers.
Now, I know you'll say that those places also have turkish minority but truth is, well at least for Prizren, studies have shown that there really isnt. Just albanians who claim to be turks. Dr Hakif Bajrami a dardanian historian, one of the finest btw, (he is great!!) have made a study regarding turks in Prizren. His conclusion was that there are few to none turks in Prizren.
