They just made the WC quarterfinals again. They're ahead of Poland and Denmark for sure.CanaYouDoIt wrote: Mon Dec 05, 2022 6:56 pm Croatia only made the quarters of the EUROs 1 in the last 6 editions. Their 2018 World Cup run was an outlier, we'd be able to compete with them is what I'm thinking. A pot 2/ boderline pot 1 team. More like Poland or a Denmark.

Thank you for proving my point.CanaYouDoIt wrote: Mon Dec 05, 2022 7:00 pm Just off the top of my head
Strakosha
Hysaj Rrahmani Djimsiti Vojvoda
Asllani Bare
Zhegrova Zeneli Rashica
Broja
This team is as good as Swiss/Poland/Croatia?? Hell no. Just like current Albania.

Nah as in we'd be more like Poland/Denmark. Poland made the R16 and Croatia only got through on pens tbf. But still great for them not taking anything away from it, last dance of this generation for them.Plako wrote: Mon Dec 05, 2022 7:30 pmThey just made the WC quarterfinals again. That's an exaggeration and you know it. These countries have TONS of established professionals who are guaranteed starters at their clubs. Poland has 2 superstars (Lewa and Zielinski).
Albania has some potential to reach those levels in the future but the Albanian players need to start playing and develop.

Muriqi isn't an upgrade??
Not only would he be our best striker in terms of club achievements but he also has 23 goals in 44 games for a D tier Kosovan team. Who wouldn't want that kind of pedigree playing for us?

Muriqi is a very specific player. That's why he failed miserably (and is a meme) in Serie a but he's having fun scoring unmarked headers against Spanish midgets who don't care about defense.
Broja is a modern striker. Has a higher ceiling and is capable of playing vs anyone. Either way he needs to play and develop too because he's not what he can be.
Swiss, Poland and especially Croatia are at a much higher level.

Eh, Muriqi can be a goon at times but he does things that Broja refuses to do and does them well. He’s actually the ideal partner next to Broja. And if we’re being honest Muriqi is the more complete striker right now even if Broja has more potential. At the end of the day Muriqi is a dog and those kind of players makes teams competitive.Dallku wrote: Mon Dec 05, 2022 8:18 pmMuriqi is a very specific player. A joint Albania - Kosovo team doesn’t really elevate us too much but it gives us more depth. We won’t see a guy like Mihaj, Trashi or 40 year old Roshi starting anymore. That alone is the difference in qualifying.

I think Croatia overperform in international football because of their midfield tbh. Organizing any proper game play in international football is a challenge due to lack of chemistry/practice.
When you have a central midfield with Modric & co organizing the game, you can punch above your weight class. In reality, their overall squad is no better than Serbia.
