With memories of the golden years (80's) of the albanian football still fresh on her mind, Albania is now attempting to recreate its strong football legacy. As young players start making their names abroad, the future is looking bright for Albanian football!

He has 21 league goals this year and is 2nd most in La Liga this year. We still suck off Igli Tare for scoring like 4 goals in Italy decades ago. Muriqi deserves a statue!
Different eras and roles. One thing Muriqi and Tare have in common is that they never qualified their nations to a major tournament. As NT fans that's the only thing that matters.
I don't think anyone wanked Tare lol. He was OK, but nothing too special. He showed up in a couple of big games, but that's it. Bogdani is a different matter cause he performed in Serie A back when it was a very strong defensive league.
I'm of the opinion that Muriqi is the best Albanian striker ever though. I think Bogdani beats him at his peak in 2005, but overall Muriqi has been more consistent.
Excluding one game missed due to suspension, he only missed 137 minutes in the entire season. Literally started every single game and was subbed off a few times mostly towards the end of games.
He played 97% of the minutes he could possibly play.

With that said, his contract is now expiring, so let's see if he will renew with Lecce. Reports are that they have a one year option.
Coming off a season of playing every minute, and in general 3 good seasons with Lecce, I imagine he will have some better teams interested in signing him. The interest of Inter in him was real in his first season.
Just ten days after his dismissal from AC Milan, former sporting director Igli Tare is now under investigation in Albania. He has been named a person of interest by the Special Anti-Corruption and Organised Crime Prosecution Office (SPAK) in a case involving alleged money laundering and corruption, which is linked to a broader probe into public procurement irregularities involving former deputy prime minister Belinda Balluku. Tare has yet to comment on these serious allegations.
Lennart Karl injured and will miss the world cup. I thought it was going to be a Shkodran Mustafi situation but Germany replaced him with a 20 year old African.

What is the deal with this guy? 18 years old and already called up?
