WTF at the Egnatia game.. The first leg looked like a complete mismatch in favor of Shamrock. Now they are getting demolished.

But they just got a red card after being up 4-0 with an entire 2nd half to go

Finally an Albanian team in the group stages again (1st time after Skenderbeu's ban?). Even if Egnatia loses Europa playoffs, they're guaranteed Conference league group stages.

Dinamo might make it too, but that Cypriote team is loaded. It'll be tough.

Yeah I just saw Dinamo plays Pafos next lol. Mission impossible on paper but if anyone can do it... They did eliminate Hajduk Split last year and that's a similar team in strength. I think Dinamo now is weaker though.

Egnatia in europe either way but the next opponent is not impossible to make it to EL.

FIFA has made it so easy to go to group stages now lol. Basically you can fail twice and still make it to Conference League. And that's 3 mill prize money too.

In fact, Dinamo's road is actually way tougher than Egnatia, because they can't fail at all or they're out.

Qualifying from the champions league path is the easiest. You essentially just need to win the first champions league qualifying match (usually against a minnow) and they are a shoe in for conference league at least even if they lose the second champions league qualifying match.

It's why UEFA created conference league for the smaller nations as a consolidation prize that the champions league is more exclusive to the top 5 leagues.

Macedonia has had Shkendija qualify. Bosnia has had teams qualify. At this point Albania is practically the worst in the region in domestic football. I still think how badly Partizani and Tirana have been run as organizations have turned the league into one of the worst in Europe.

This year does seem promising though and Egnatia has a decent show for Europa league in itself. I don't think Dinamo will get by the cypriot team who seems talented on paper.

The fact that Albanian teams haven't taken advantage of Conference league (until now) is embarrassing but it shows how horribly ran they are. Even Egnatia right now there is about to lose 3-4 of their best players and won't replace them. That's the biggest problem with Albanian teams every year.

Skenderbeu was the best run Albanian team. Even when they lost an important player they replaced him with someone just as good.

Yea Skenderbeu was the blueprint. They had a great scouting network and were able to find cheap talented players they can develop and sell. And they still kept enough of their core each year to ensure stability. Guys like Lilaj, Shehi, Jashanica, etc, kept them competitive enough to win the league and they were able to add guys and sell guys because they had a stable core.

And truthfully Skenderbeu was a bit lucky because someone like Lilaj was too good for the Superliga but just not quite good enough for a more competitive European league and at that point getting older so was happy to be in Albania. If he was a bit younger he would have been sold like Latifi or Berisha and maybe that Skenderbeu team just collapses. I remember him being just head and shoulders above anyone in the league.
